2024 Season Is Over!
What a fantastic season we've had! We'd like to thank all the members, coaches, and volunteers for all their contributions this year.
Some of the highlights:
In terms of equipment, this year we were fortunate to acquire a new Wintech 4x/-designed to bridge the gap between entry level equipment and high performance racing shells. It has proven to be a great workhorse for all skill levels at the club. The name Gemera was chosen by members. It is the fastest four person car (fitting for a four person boat) and is a combination of the two Swedish words – “ge” (give) and “mera” (more) signifies “to give more."
Through a generous donation from the Beacon Ride, we acquired a new adaptive rowing 1x. Beacon is a yearly bike ride event created with the help of The Rolling Circus, a Sessions Ride Co. cycling collective and team. Their goal is to provide a light for those in need. The boat is named after Luc Robidas, an athlete with the SRC adapative program. His enthusiasm and love for being on the water was infectious and brightened every practice. Luc passed away in August of 2023 and is sorely missed by the para athletes, volunteers and coaches
We hosted the second annual Silver Cup Regatta, a Terry Fox Row, and had our Boat Naming Ceremony.
With our new logo rebranding, we also partnered with Row West to provide gear for our members (https://rowwest.com/collections/sudbury-rowing-club).
With this seasons end, we'd like to remind rowers that rowing club boats is no longer permitted.
If you're available to come help remove the docks on Wednesday, October 30th at 8am. Please email the club at rowsudbury@gmail.com if you're able to help out.
Unisuits and other gear available now!
We are very excited to announce that SRC branded gear is now available through Row West, a Canadian business.
Row West is a small home based operation producing a few thousand custom cut and sewn garments each year. Aside from Justin, the owner, there is a one skilled designer/seamstress on staff and a part time assistant. All of the technical clothing is cut and sewn on site. Dye sublimation printing and CAD cut vinyl printing are also done in-house. All of this happens in a 600 sq ft work space hidden in the mountain woods bordering Shawnigan Lake.
All gear can be purchased directly through the Row West website, you can navigate to the Sudbury RC Team Access page or follow the link below:

On July 1st, 2023, the Sudbury Rowing Club gathered for the Silver Cup Regatta.
This was a great event to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the original Dominion Day Regatta. Furthermore, this day celebrated the return of the trophy presented to the top sculler back in 1903. Through a series of events stretching back over 75 years the trophy had ended up in the basement of a Toronto couple who contacted the Club in 2022 to ensure that it made its way back to where it had first been presented 120 years earlier. The couple, Myrna and Marvin Nussbaum, were on hand to renew the regatta tradition associated with the trophy on July 1, 2023.
It was a beautiful morning and a great opportunity for rowers to challenge themselves and make new friends! This day allowed rowers to showcase their strengths, and race against other boats. The Silver Cup Regatta was full of excitement and companionship and illustrated the beautiful sport of rowing. The Sudbury Rowing Club looks forward to continuing to have regattas for members to look forward to!
More to Come!
